We may be across the border but we too like to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving. (Any excuse for turkey and gravy, eh?) For one thing, we are incredibly appreciative of the continued support of all our Canadians friends and family. For another, we have so much to be thankful for, this and every weekend, and we like to take every opportunity to count our blessings. For example, right now, we’re giving thanks for:
If you thought summer was long gone, you’d be wrong. Okay, okay, so it’s not exactly bikini weather, but we are very grateful for the lovely, balmy Fall days we’re currently enjoying. This weekend promises to be no different – 66 and sunny. Come on down and join us – we’ll be on the beach while the turkey is roasting.
The grape harvest
Nothing says ‘Fall’ quite like a gorgeous grape harvest. We’ll be giving thanks for our Veranda Beach Vineyard bumper crop with a communal picking on Saturday morning – think of it as the vintner’s version of a group hug. We’d love for you to join us in the celebration!
When: Saturday October 10; Time TBC
Where: Veranda Beach Vineyard
Why: Grapes = wine. Now that’s something we’re very thankful for!
What’s better than turkey dinner? Free turkey dinner! No, we’re not speaking gobble(dy-gook)! This weekend if you spend $150 at our local Oroville market, Akins Harvest Foods, you’ll get your turkey for free. Thank you, Akins!
Speaking of turkey, in 2013 Canadians ate enough turkeys to stretch, beak-to-tail-feather, from Regina to Fredericton… which they then drowned in enough gravy to fill a train 17 cars long! (Seems we’re not the only ones who love turkey and gravy with a grand passion!)
All turkey talk aside though, we do wish our neighbors a very happy weekend and many blessings in the year to come. Happy Thanksgiving!
