Long Weekend Fun at the Beach!

Wine, italian cuisine, & sunshine were enjoyed by all at Veranda Beach as the Canadians descended upon the Beach for their Victoria Day holiday weekend. Children’s laughter echoed as they swam, scooted, kicked balls, flew kites, and built sand castles, only to be outdone by their parent’s enjoyment of the “Italian Job” Dinner and Wine Pairing on Saturday Night. Globe at the Beach Chef Michael did an outstanding job and the Barbera pairings selected by Winemaker Rusty Figgins were exceptional. I honestly do not think I have ever had better Tiramisu! Three days felt like a week’s vacation as I laid poolside yesterday savoring my last few hours at the Beach before returning home to my work week, content that it would only be four more sleeps until I was back at the Beach again!

Terrific Season Opener at Veranda Beach

Veranda Beach’s season opener was enjoyed by all this past weekend under blue skies and sunshine. “Globe at the Beach” attracted the most attention, opening with rave reviews of Chef Michael’s first offerings. Fantastic food (the ribs are amazing), fabulous new lunch and dinner menus and a terrific Mother’s Day Brunch. The Veranda Beach General Store opened with a bang as well, chalk a block full of new surprises and selling out of a few items on its first weekend. The warm weather also welcomed the Resort’s first waterskiiers and wakeboarders on Lake Osoyoos and of course the kids were in the pool! With all the events planned it’s shaping up to be a great summer at Veranda Beach.

New Restaurant & Enticing Events Calendar

Veranda Beach has a new restaurant – Globe at the Beach- as Jude Brunt and Paul Doherty owners of Globe Café & Tapas Bar at Big White and Sun Peaks, join the Veranda Beach Crew on Lake Osoyoos to open Globe at the Beach this weekend. Those who have come to love the previous 1950’s Diner style menu as part of your summer at Veranda, need not be alarmed as Globe will continue to offer great onion rings, an awesome burger, homemade authentic milkshakes and the infamous rootbeer float! But your dining choices will be further enhanced with the addition of fabulous Italian specialty coffees to start your day, and a more extensive, great tasting lunch and dinner menu inspired by the cultures and cuisines of the owner’s travels – full of fresh, fun and creative summer comfort foods all cooked from scratch using the best local ingredients. Globe will also offer daily chefs special creations, a wider selection of local boutique wines and beers and many culinary theme events featuring cuisines from around the world.

Wasting no time, Globe at the Beach will bring forth international flavours from England, Italy and Atlantic Canada in three culinary events in May. Upon opening the doors on Saturday, Globe at the Beach extends an invitation to the English custom of afternoon tea for Mother’s Day, followed by Mother’s Day Brunch the following day. Two weeks later it’s off to Italy for “An Italian Job” Winemaker’s Dinner on May 22nd with a five course Italian cuisine and wine pairing dinner, showcasing Barbera varietals from both the old and new world, and soon to be produced from the Veranda vineyard.
