Yes, just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, Veranda Beach spring vacationers have so many activities to choose from…
Road cycling is all the rage right now, however this appears to be no fad, but a sport with staying power; and the Okanogan County delivers fabulous road biking routes with Veranda Beach as your base. Both serious cyclists and leisurely riders will enjoy the backroads of the Okanogan. Penticton’s Ironman cycling route through Canada’s South Okanagan popularized that race, and just across the border in our Okanagon County, you will find the same spectacular scenery of vineyards, orchards, rivers and lakes, only with roads far less traveled, and thus perfect for road cycling from Veranda Beach!
Hiking at Veranda Beach has proven a most popular activity over the years with three trails to choose from, and each varying in difficulty and aptly named.
- The Beach Trail is a fabulous, easy, partly shaded walk along the Beach, perfect for families with small children.
- The Lakeside Trail is our moderate trail, climbing in elevation, to take in spectacular views of the Resort, Veranda’s Vineyard and Lake Osoyoos.
- The Cactus Mountain Trail is, as it is named, a mountain trail, climbing up beautiful Cactus Mountain overlooking the Resort, Lake Osoyoos and surrounding mountains and once at the top, the view is seemingly endless stretching south to Tonasket and north to Oliver!
Golfers can start their stick swinging spree at our local Oroville Golf Course, hop across the border to play Osoyoos, Inkameep Canyon or Fairview Mountain, or head South just an hour to take in Washington’s newest course quickly climbing the ranks, Gamble Sands. There are over 10 area golf courses to choose from!
Add in a kite flying with the kids, casting a fishing line right from our Veranda Beach dock or at one of the nearby mountain lakes, touring the local wineries, and of course, time to relax, and you’ve got the makings of a fabulous Spring vacation!
Many thanks to our previous Veranda Beach models Ian McLeod, Ross McGaw, Jude Brunt and Paul Doherty for permitting the sharing of their photos!
