What is Special About an Autumn Getaway and Thanksgiving at Veranda Beach?
Veranda Beach Resort is not all about summer. When the crazy busy days of summer vacation season on Washington’s Lake Osoyoos fade into fall, the beaches turn peaceful and quiet. The harvest arrives with apples and pumpkins in abundance. Thanksgiving (Canadian in October and US in November) kicks off the holiday season, and the golfers are playing their rounds on our crisp fall blue-sky days.

Cool Weather and Cozy Cottages
Fall at Veranda Beach Resort brings the perfect sweater weather. Throw on your long sleeves and cozy hoodies for crisp morning walks on the Lakeside Trail during your picturesque Thanksgiving lake trip.
When you get back to your home away from home, take advantage of our rental cottage fireplaces to cozy up with your Thanksgiving clan. Plus, you can take advantage of the Value Season Rates which start September 5 & Winter Rates starting November 1! The full kitchens (which are complete right down to the corkscrew) in the Veranda Beach lake cottages are ideal for you to prepare your Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. Also, be sure to try a little Veranda Cellars wine with dinner.

Fall Colors and Fun Activities Galore
On your October – November Thanksgiving getaway to Lake Osoyoos, view the gorgeous colors of fall and cool, clear nights. The average night temps remain above freezing and daytime temps can be in the 50’s with lots of sunshine and only a few days of rain.
Hiking the Cactus Mountain Trail (aka Oroville Grind) is excellent during the cooler days of autumn. Hiking enthusiasts love treking this trail till the snow falls and even after! In addition to our area hiking trails, you can enjoy the fishing opportunities at local lakes and play a couple rounds of golf at nearby golf courses. Fall conditions make all these activities an even more lovely escape from busy daily life.

Community Events and Delicious Dining Options
Halloween at the lake is a special time with our ‘Witches on the Water’ costumed paddle kicking off the spooky weekend. This HOA sponsored event is gaining popularity at Veranda Beach, and it gets more fun every year. After Halloween, the November holiday season kicks off with the annual community ‘Turkey Wobble’. This progressive social event has neighbors travel from cottage to cottage enjoying a beverage, appetizers and socializing with the other residents. It’s a walking event within the community and safe if you reach the ‘wobble’ stage.
Although the Veranda Beach Diner is closed for the season, nearby restaurants are open only a short drive away in Oroville and across the border in Osoyoos, BC. There are several excellent authentic Mexican restaurants as well as Pastime Brewery and the Brickhouse locally and other dining options the resort can recommend.
While the water may be cooler in fall, the beach is beautiful for sunset bonfires and some excellent sunsets. Come and check out Veranda Beach Resort in the fall for a memorable Washington Thanksgiving getaway.
